It’s August 2026, nearly September, which you may recall is my favourite month. I created a flurry of posts when I first set up this blog, then in 2021 I promised updates and then, um, didn’t do them. I recall I was quite busy with work and I’d also set up my own business so I must have been short of time. As the title says, time flies.
I’ve noticed that this blog still gets a fair bit of traffic. I’ve kept up with the WordPress subscription and even given it a lovely new look. I’ve been developing WordPress sites in the interim and have enjoyed working with the technology.
I’m still in work, still in IT, still driving, and still trying to do everything I can with the gift of the extended opportunity to keep doing those things. These days, in addition to being all the things I used to be, I’m now a proud dad to a 9 year old daughter who brings me unimaginable energy and lifeforce.
With the redesign, and the updates, I feel it’s time to get back into writing. I don’t see a huge amount written by long-term survivors but I do see the articles on the various charity websites of all the things people do, especially around fundraising. I find myself short of time for such amazing gestures – it takes all my energy just to keep going and do the things that are priorities for me and my family. I’m extremely grateful for those who dedicate time to helping those of us who need the help.
So, dear reader, I promise to write another September post with yet another academic year commencing. The world has changed so much; there is much to catch up on.
